About

I guess that you have some questions. Who is this guy? What makes him tick? And where can I send him large donations so he can indulge his every whim? Okay, maybe not that last one, but I can dream, can’t I.

My name is Todd Regoulinsky and I’m a father, husband, freelance designer, writer, musician, and several other things depending on my mood and which day it is. I grew up in Dover, New Hampshire in a fairly well-adjusted middle class family surrounded by plenty of kids to play with and a decent educational system. Yeah, I know, my parents are still trying to figure out how I got here too. Kidding! I kid.

(No, really. They are.)

Upon graduation from the illustrious confines of Dover High School And Regional Vocational Center, I headed about ten minutes down 108 (or 155, depending on my mood) to the University of New Hampshire, where I started out undeclared, played in the marching band, learned the fine art of heckling opposing hockey teams and referees with equal disdain and cleverness, and acquired a taste for poetry. After taking more English classes than anyone really should without obtaining a degree, I took a left turn and wound up spending a lot of time on-air at WUNH. I graduated with a BA in Communications which looks really pur-ty in its frame. It was during this time that I first began messing around with HTML and building my own websites.

Fast forward a decade or so (I know, you’re welcome) and there I was working at a car dealership in Exeter, New Hampshire when in walks my future wife Kim. Stunning. Funny. Smart. I asked her out a month later and then had to wait a couple weeks to save up enough cash for a proper date. Seven months later, we were married in October 2004. Our daughter Kaelin was born in 2007 and we’ve been trucking along ever since.

Along the way is the interesting bit. We’ve picked up a couple of dogs to go along with Bootsy, my faithful feline companion of 11 years and counting. I joke that Kim loves to pick up strays and there is some truth to the matter. We rescued our boxer, Oscar, a month after getting married. We rescued our second dog, Mia (a mutt of epic proportions), a couple years later as a companion for Oscar. We’ve all been picked up along the way – Kaelin is the only one who was born into this thing. But it all works.

About The Site

The name Designing Dad wasn’t just chosen as a clever play on my job as a freelance designer. Because I didn’t grow up hanging out with lots of nieces and nephews around, becoming a dad has been a constant learning experience and I’ve come to realize that even though some advice is universal, everyone has to figure out most of it for themselves. Each day I feel as though I’m being molded and designed and formed into whatever “dad” needs to be today. Surprisingly, I’m okay with that.
